📰 NEWS DAY

Steve Matthews’ Aqueduct picks for Saturday, March 29

Best Bet: LATTA (3)

Best Value: BRACIOLE (9)

FIRST: Short Shift projects as the speed of the speed with aggressive handling. First Class Cat will be in the garden if top selection fails to secure clear lead. Splashy logged only win at today’s 6-furlong trip; don’t ignore.

SECOND: Gridlock makes first start for new barn after fast-figured score; more to come. Adeleke has won five in a row; very dangerous. Save Us Melania bounced last time; rebound potential.

THIRD: Latta tallied fast late-pace figure when winning last at Parx by 10 lengths; ready for prime time. Cold as Hell could play out as the swiftest of the swift. Graywing fires big efforts with machine-like consistency; must consider.

FOURTH: One Nine Hundred is fresh and logged fast figures in both efforts. Into Inspiration will be aided by cutback to 6 furlongs. Gypsy Dreaming failed to hold a more than four-length lead in the lane last time; proceed with caution.

FIFTH: Bold Endeavor is riding a two-race winning streak; takes another. Winnin’onweekends regressed in last after fast-figured win in prior; dangerous. Colloquy can impact at fat ticket on “A” efforts.

SIXTH: Spun Size could be sitting on breakthrough in first start for new barn. Awesome Roberta is quick from gate and could prove tough on a clear lead. Midnight Glimmer (gets blinkers and Lasix) and Sweet Lilac (positional speed) are two more that must be factored into the mix in full maiden field.

SEVENTH: Shetalkstomuch makes peak start of form cycle after tough-trip third in last; call based on price. La Banquera has won last three starts by a combined 20 lengths; likely underlay. Maggie T was a determined winner in last; don’t ignore.

EIGHTH: Sanzio was a tough-trip sixth in debut; improvement predicted. Merica’s Back could play out as the main speed. Share the Ludt fired crisp half-mile drill since fast-figured third in last; right in the thick of this.

NINTH: Braciole notched swift final fraction when winning last; pairs up. Quick Hammer owns speed and fast figures; likely short price. Uncle George is riding a two-race winning streak; must be factored into the mix.

TENTH: Giroovin was freshened after winning two in a row this past January; picks up where he left off. Smile Mon took backward step in last after front-running score in prior; bounce-back threat. Supreme Law (potential speed of the speed) and Sagamore Mischief (5-furlong bullet since last start) are two more that must be considered.

ELEVENTH: Trulli Magic logged two swift works since tough-trip third in last; set for breakthrough. Sunshine Lily was a useful fifth in debut at Tampa; price will be tempting. Forever to Go owns speed but lacks heart; must take the good with the bad. Dear Moon, Cloudy Chance and Night Jasmine are three of the six newcomers in field that demand tote and on-track scrutiny.
