Sugar Rush popup to open at Alibi Lounge in Farmingdale

Alibi Lounge in Farmingdale is being transformed into a sweet destination: Sugar Rush is the latest popup eating and drinking experience, immersing Long Islanders in a colorful candy wonderland.

Co-owners Peter Drangone and Chris Molano collaborated with Bethpage’s Nostalgia Bar to deck out the Main Street space with lollipops, ice cream and candy-themed décor. Guests at 90-minute seatings can try themed cocktails and mocktails inspired by s’mores (a chocolate cocktail with graham cracker on the rim garnished with a toasted marshmallow, $14). Other drinks include a key lime martini ($14), peppermint patty ($14) and Snickers cocktail ($15).

“Everything’s garnished with candy, everything’s [named]  after a candy, everything’s colorful,” Molano said.

Shareable small plates include a pretzel with honey mustard and cheese ($10), meatball sliders ($14) and gluten free pizza ($16).

While this is the tenth pop-up that Drangone has done, there is something new with this particular experience, he said. “We’ve catered a lot to adult-only experiences,” Drangone said. “For this specific one, we are opening it up to kids and families for certain seatings.”

All-age seatings are 6 p.m. Friday, and 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are $12 with food and drink priced a la carte. Every guest gets a sweets-themed goodie bag.

Sugar Rush at Alibi Lounge, 230 Main St., Farmingdale, April 11-May 25 with seatings 6 and 8 p.m. Friday-Sunday as well as 4 p.m. Sunday, tickets at eventbrite.com.
