‘Suspect’ detained in fatal shooting of woman on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville
A woman was shot and killed early Tuesday morning on Gillespie Street and police say a “suspect” is detained.
“This was not a random incident. The decedent and suspect were known to each other prior to the shooting,” according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.
The shooting was reported around 3:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of Gillespie Street, the release said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the individual detained was also not released.
