‘The White Lotus’ Star Natasha Rothwell Gushes About Onscreen Son Zion, Nicholas Duvernay: “He’s Very Symmetrical, So It Got a Little Edible at Times”

The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 6 “Denials” formally introduced us to Zion Lindsay (Nicholas Duvernay), whom we initially, briefly, met in the tense cold open of this latest installment of the HBO hit. Zion is, of course, Belinda’s (Natasha Rothwell) son. Like his mom, he is a kind-hearted soul who just so happens to find himself swept up in the dark drama of a White Lotus resort.

“Yeah. I mean, Nicholas Duvernay, he is that. He’s a walking heart,” White Lotus star Natasha Rothwell gushed to DECIDER a few weeks ago.

“He’s very symmetrical, so it got a little edible at times because I was just like, ‘I cannot be attracted to my son!’” Rothwell admitted with a laugh. “But no, seriously, he is so giving, so talented.”

Zion arrives at the White Lotus in Thailand just in time to catch his mother in bed with sweet local wellness expert Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul). While it’s an awkward reunion, Zion soon explains to his mother that he’s happy for her. In fact, throughout our time with Zion, it’s become all too clear that Belinda and her son are quite close.

“It really brought to mind when I was out of school — you know, Zion’s in grad school — but I just remember being that age and trying to relate to my parents as an adult, being like, ‘Are we friends? Am I going to have this cocktail in front of you?’” Rothwell said. “Like, you know, you’re kind of navigating what’s permissible and what’s not.”

“You really get to see she’s a single mother and they ride for each other. So it was really nice to build that and show that kind of love.”

You might recognize Duvernay from his work playing Armando in the hit Netflix romantic drama Purple Hearts or as Drew on Peacock’s Bel-Air. Nicholas Duvernay has also starred in Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living and popped up on The Winchesters.

So is Nicholas Duvernay related to Ava DuVernay? Nope! Ava DuVernay definitely does have a brother named Nicholas, but that is a different person. If the photo evidence isn’t enough, the director is from Long Beach, California — not Long Island. (Multiple people can be named Nicholas! Groundbreaking!)
