These schools are closed Thursday due to severe weather threat

With the threat of severe storms and flooding throughout the region, Middle Tennessee schools are canceling classes Thursday.

Cheatham County Schools was among the first to close. The district said in a release that all extra-curricular activities and extended daycare will also be canceled.

The district’s board meeting scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until April 10 at 6 p.m. at Sycamore High School.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for portions of Middle Tennessee ahead of a week-long period of storms. The watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Sunday.

A tornado watch was issued for Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Perry and Stewart County until midnight.

  • Clarksville-Montgomery County School System: Opening two hours later Thursday, April 3.

  • Dickson County Schools: Closed Thursday, April 3.

  • Houston County Schools: Opening two hours later Thursday, April 3.

  • Robertson County Schools: Opening two hours later Thursday, April 3.

  • Stewart County Schools: Closed Thursday, April 3.
