Districts shutter Friday amid severe weather threat
Some Middle Tennessee students will have long weekends as school districts began canceling Friday classes Thursday afternoon amid an ongoing threat of severe weather.
Cheatham and Robertson County Schools will both be closed Friday as severe weather continues to play a significant role in the forecast. So far, Tennessee has seen several inches of rain and storm damage, and more is on the way, meteorologists warn.
Theย National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for portions of Middle Tennesseeย ahead of a days-long stretch of storms. The watch is in effect through 7 a.m. Sunday.

Despite the school closures, Cheatham County announced Thursday that its extended daycare program will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Students should bring a lunch.
There are no extra-curricular activities and no community use of school facilities Friday, Cheatham officials noted.
Daycares in Robertson County will be closed Friday, an email from Schools Director Danny Weeks noted.
