PALM DESERT β€”Two people were arrested, and 32 citations were issued during a DUI checkpoint in Palm Desert, authorities announced Saturday.

The checkpoint was held at Fred Waring Drive and Portola Avenue from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The agency said that out of 792 vehicles contacted, 54 vehicles were subjected to secondary screening, and eight field sobriety tests were conducted.

According to sheriff’s Sgt. Don Olson, one person was arrested for DUI and possession of a loaded firearm, and one person was arrested for a warrant for driving on a suspended license.

Additionally, 29 people were cited for driving without a license, and three people were cited for driving on a suspended license.
