Gas station worker forcibly touched teen girl in New Hyde Park, police say
Nassau police charged a gas station employee with forcibly touching a 16-year-old girl on Friday afternoon in New Hyde Park, according to a news release from the agency.
Police arrested Syosset resident Pankajkumar Sha, 63, around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Police said he “inappropriately [grabbed] and forcibly touched” the teen girl while he was working at the Valero gas station on Jericho Turnpike.
The 16-year-old victim “immediately left the location and notified police,” after which Shah was arrested “without incident,” according to the police news release.
Nassau police charged Shah with forcible touching. According to the New York State Unified Courts website “a person is guilty of Forcible Touching when he or she intentionally, and for no legitimate purpose, forcibly touches the sexual or other intimate parts of another person for the purpose of degrading or abusing such person or … gratifying the actor’s sexual desire.”
Shah also faces charges of sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child.
All four charges carry up to 39 months of possible jail time if convicted.
He is scheduled to appear in the First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
