Up to 12 inches of snow expected near St. Louis; where will it fall?
ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis region is gearing up for yet another snowstorm expected Tuesday morning through early Wednesday. Areas southwest of St. Louis are expecting up to possibly 12 inches of snow by Tuesday night.
The region can expect light snow flurries throughout Monday as another system works it’s way into the area Tuesday and Tuesday night. Heavy snow is expected to hit south of Interstate 70 while north of I-70, dryer air may push the snow to the south.
Which areas will see the most snow?
Snowfall rates could be expected anywhere around one inch per hour, depending on the area.
The St. Louis metro is expecting between three and six inches of snow, while north of St. Louis will see anywhere between one and three inches.
Further south, areas below Union and Festus could begin to see an accumulation of six to nine inches through late Tuesday night.
Between Monday and Wednesday, the highest snowfall totals are expected south of Owensville, Missouri, to Festus, Missouri, where 8 to 12 inches are possible.
