Wendy Williams had dinner with Don Lemon after ‘mean-spirited’ court hearing: The Baldwins popped by
Amid her campaign to be released from a legal guardianship, Wendy Williams is enjoying the support of stars inclusing Don Lemon and Alec and Hilaria Baldwin.
The former talk show host has been declared by a judge to be incapacited and put under the control of a court-appointed guardian, and she says sheâs being made to live in facility she calls a âluxury prison.â
Sheâs now launched a legal bid â as well as something of a public campaign for hearts and minds â to get herself out of both.
On Thursday, the former talk show host was spotted out having dinner with Don Lemon at Il Cantanori in NYC. Williams and Lemon were joined by her niece, Alex Finnie and her boyfriend, and the former CNN anchorâs husband, Tim Malone, we hear.
Weâre told she appeared to be in great spirits and âdoing well,â at the Greenwich Village Italian eatery, and several fans approached her to say hello. âShe was sharp, sweet and fun,â a source told Page Six.
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin were also dining at the restaurant, and popped over to Williamsâ table, where they appeared âtotally supportive of her,â according to an onlooker.
âThey told her she was strong and sheâll beat this, and theyâre behind her,â the source said.
Lemon later talked about the evening on his eponymous YouTube show.
He revealed it was Alecâs first time meeting Williams, and Hilaria told her, ââIâve been thinking about you Wendy. Iâve been worried about you.’â
Lemon described Williams as a foodie and said: âWendy was like, âIâm gonna eat everything, Don, because the food where I am [living] is awful!’â
âShe remembered details to things I couldnât remember,â he said, âThe irony that [sheâs been admitted to] memory unit at this [facility where sheâs living],â he said.
As for whether or not she should be living independently, he said: âYes, and no.â âI think she should be free in the sense that she has more autonomy. She can go out to dinner with people,â he said, but added, âShe would have a monitor or a coach with her, and of course security.â
Earlier in the day, Williams appeared in court before Judge Lisa Sokoloff, who reportedly accused her niece of leaking to the press, and, according to TMZ âout of the blueâ announced that Williamsâ TV career âis over.â
A Page Six source blasted the judge as âoutrageousâ and âmean-spiritedâ for her remarks about Williamsâ career.
Lemon also wrote on his Substace that Williams is âabout becoming the woman she never got to be before â on her own terms, in her own time.â
âAnd if you ask me â that might be the most powerful Wendy weâve seen yet,â he said.
WIlliams and her niece met with star lawyer Joe Tacopina, who recently joined her legal team, at the Ned before her dinner date with Lemon.
Tacopina told us: âShe wants her dignity back. She deserves it. Sheâs handling it all with class.â
And she wonât give up without a fight, he told us. âSheâs Wendy Williams. Sheâs a strong woman. Sheâs built that way,â he said.
