Whoopi Goldberg Says She’d Be Banned From TV If She “Ever Got Frisky” On ‘The View’
Whoopi Goldberg says The View fans have no idea just how naughty she could be on TV — but she insists she reels it in for the cameras. While chatting with guest Charlamagne tha God on this morning’s show, Goldberg teased that she could up the NSFW factor, but it would likely mean losing her job.
When the show returned from a commercial break, Goldberg re-introduced the radio host in a rather unconventional manner.
“We are back with my new sex partner, Charlamagne tha God,” Goldberg said, much to the amusement of the table and her guest, who laughed at the line, which was probably a nod to the very chaste kiss on the cheek Charlamagne gave her earlier in the episode.
Pointing to Goldberg, Charlamagne warned her, “You’re getting frisky on this show lately, Ms. Goldberg!”
But Goldberg said Charlamagne doesn’t know what frisky really is.
She shot back, “Child, if I ever got frisky on here, I’d never be allowed on television again. Never.”
That really got Charlamagne, who bowed his head in laughter at the moderator’s wit. We can only imagine what Goldberg has in mind, but it sounds like we’ll never see — if she wants to hold onto her job, that is.
Of course, Charlamagne is no stranger to controversial moments at the Hot Topics table. Also on today’s show, he got in hot water with Goldberg for calling her opinion “ridiculous,” although the two hugged and made up moments later.
Back when he joined The View for a May episode earlier this year, he called out the co-hosts for trying to get him to endorse President Joe Biden on air. While the radio host endorsed Biden in 2020, he told The View he wasn’t endorsing anyone at that point in the 2024 election.
“Charlamagne, now is not the time, in my opinion, to sit this one out,” Sunny Hostin told him.
He replied, “If I’m sitting here telling my listeners that you have somebody out there who is a threat to democracy, you have somebody out there who said they want to suspend the constitution to overthrow the results of an election, you saw this person try to lead an attempted coup of this country and I’m telling people that this guy is a threat to democracy,” referring to Donald Trump. “There are only two candidates out there. So if I’m saying that about this individual, the choice is clear, right?”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
