Central Arkansas schools announce closings ahead of winter storm
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Schools around central Arkansas are announcing closures as winter weather is expected to enter the state Thursday.
Snow showers are expected to begin in parts of southwest Arkansas as early as 7 a.m. Thursday and continuing into central Arkansas Thursday night into Friday morning. Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens and 20s and roads are expected to be icy.

Below is a list of school closings:
Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired
School officials said the school will be closed Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10. Dorm students will travel home Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and charter buses will run regular routes. Day students will remain at school until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday with normal transportation.
Little Rock School District
The Little Rock School District will close schools and offices on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10.
North Little Rock School District
The North Little Rock School District will close schools and offices on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10.
Pulaski County Special School District
The Pulaski County Special School District will be closed Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10.
