Cyclist dies after bike vs car crash
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A cyclist died after a bicycle vs. vehicle collision Wednesday morning, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries before succumbing to the injuries sustained in the crash, GJPD said.
The crash occurred around 10 a.m. at 2140 N. 12th St. A driver traveling southbound struck the cyclist, who entered the roadway. Life-saving measures were provided by area medical personnel before Grand Junction Fire Department emergency medical technicians arrived.
The southbound lanes of North 12th Street — between Bookcliff and Walnut avenues — were closed so the Grand Junction Police Department could investigate the crash. The roadway reopened around 11:15 a.m.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once his next of kin are notified.
