You can book a 30-minute bubble bath for $75 at Lush in NYC
Unlike the lucky New Yorkers who can take a bath in their kitchen, I, like many others, don’t have a tub.
Lush has a unique solution — but it’ll cost you $75 for 30 minutes of blissful soaking.
The cosmetics giant offers a private, self-led bathing treatment at its spa on the Upper East Side, complete with a selection of their signature products.
“It’s really the ultimate experience,” Ruby West, the niece of a Lush founder who provides the company with research and development support, told The Post.
The aptly named “Book-a-Bath” treatment comes with a rotating theme, and when I visited the spa one frigid afternoon, it was inspired by the movie “Wicked.” The theme will stay in place until November 2025 to coincide with the release of the second part of the film.
“With Wicked, we’re hoping to create a sense of magic within the spa,” said West, the mastermind behind the experience, who explained that Lush collaborated with Universal to bring the room to life.
The experience kicked off with a glass of cucumber-infused “spa water” and a formal invite to the “Ozmopolitan” LUSH spa (yes, really). After trading my blazer and boots for a bathrobe and slippers, I stepped into Emerald City.
Inside the sparkling clean treatment room, the atmosphere was as warm and inviting as it was magical. The decor was fit for the Wizard himself, with emerald green tiles, gold accents and the flickering reflections of candlesticks dancing across the surface of a steaming clawfoot tub.
Included in the treatment was a pot of Lush face cleanser, chosen specifically for my skin type, and a bar of exclusive Emerald City soap molded into the shape of the iconic movie set.
Each session also comes with an exclusive bath bomb, which West said was the original inspiration behind the entire experience.
“We are the creator of the bath bomb, my auntie made them herself in her back garden,” she explained. “We really wanted to show everybody that this is what we do best.”
Lush created the “Pink Fizzes Good With Green” bath bomb specifically for the Wicked “Book-a-Bath” treatment. Inspired by the magical duo of Glinda and Elphaba, it features a fragrant blend of rose, cedar wood and vanilla.
The complimentary products were neatly arranged in a golden metal bath caddy, which also held terrycloth mitts for washing off the facial products and a fabric headband.
Across from the tub, a console table displayed more Wicked-inspired goodies: Glinda and Elphaba-inspired body sprays, hair ties, bobby pins and additional Lush skincare products like toner, face moisturizer and body lotion.
Once a spa technician finished walking me through the room, I was left in complete privacy. Sinking into the warm, soothing water, the sounds of the city and the winter chill melted away as I dropped the bath bomb into the tub, watching it fizz and turn the water a soft pink.
For the next 30 minutes, I let go of everything — feeling as if I could defy gravity.
Lush and Universal teamed up to craft the ultimate Wicked-inspired soundtrack, meticulously designed to evoke different emotions at every stage of the experience.
“When they come in, we want a sense of awe,” West said. “When we get to the bath, we want to foster a feeling of bliss, so the soundtrack slows down a bit, allowing clients to fully immerse in the fragrance of the products and those beautiful ingredients during their cleanse.”
As your time in the tub winds down, the music picks up the pace again. “We’re hoping to lift the mood and have some fun,” West said. “We want them to leave on a high, so this is when you hear the soundtrack really peak.”
Before I knew it, a bell rang, snapping me back to reality. I climbed out of the tub, slathered myself in Lush toner, face and body moisturizer, and slipped back into my robe and slippers.
In the lobby, which was designed to feel like a cozy cottage straight out of the English countryside, I was greeted with an Oz-inspired sparkling green beverage.
I was calm, smelled fantastic and my skin felt incredible after its first proper soak in months (because let’s face it, the shower just doesn’t compare).
“No one else does it like we do,” West said. “With bathing being so fun, it felt so natural to create these immersive environments, supported by Universal, for people to come in and experience something new that you won’t see anywhere else.”
At $75 for just half an hour, the “Book-a-Bath” treatment isn’t exactly a bargain, but it’s a solid choice for New Yorkers craving some tub time. Plus, soaking in warm water comes with undeniable health benefits — the soothing heat melts away muscle tension, relieves stress and leaves you feeling deeply relaxed.
